About us

At Bandhini we consider every little detail we design and then make – from our buttons to our French seam finish. We have our own production unit which enables us to focus on all aspects of design from concept of our cushions, quilts, headboards and ottomans through to delivery.

We search for inspiration through culture and nature until we find what fits. Ideas come from the simplest forms - tree bark and sticks to the esoteric temple doors and crop circles.

Nothing is mass produced and all our items are individual, organic and traditionally handmade. Our weavers keep their secret from one generation to the next. They master techniques as old as their 100 year old looms. The block prints and beading remain unchanged from ancient times but are re-mastered with modern concepts.

We like to thread  softly through the environment by using natural fibres, vat dyes and nature’s bounty. The
only man made fabric we use is viscose which is derived from a unique form of wood cellulose.

At Bandhini it is about creating layers and multilevelled textural concepts that sit like jewels in your home. Delivered by a team who love what they do and value personal service.

The name Bandhini was concieved to start our company. Although it also refers to the tie and dye art called bandhej, for us it meant ‘to bind’ not only at our personal level but also the binding of cultures across the globe through the common heritage of weaving textiles.
